Holidays & Such

Hubby's birthday is coming up next Tuesday December 22nd! Can't even believe is B-Day is coming, nevermind Christmas. Seems crazy how fast time is flying. Everyone is coming home for the holidays and it is so nice.

My brother-in-law came home from London this week and he'll be home for a month. My brother came home from college today. Dad's coming home from California on Sunday. Thinking of decorating the parents house with Mexican themed goods as a little welcome back party for him. I think he'll get a kick out of that. My other brother-in-law is coming home from NYC on December 23rd. Grandparents are coming to stay for a few days from the Cape on the 24th. So needless to say, this next week is going to be super-busy.

I'm really trying to get into the holiday spirit but am finding it especially hard this year. I am off Christmas Eve and attending my parents yearly shin-dig with the whole family, which is always a blast. But...then I'm working Christmas Day (Friday) and then I'm working that whole weekend until Wednesday. I think I even have to work New Years. Kind of puts a little bit of a damper on the holidays. Though I must admit, I'm trying to be thankful to even have a job in this economy.

Tommy has been so great lately and has really wanted to be spending time at home with me. He's refused quite a lot of offered side jobs because he'd rather spend time at home. That makes me happy :O). I am so lucky to be married to such a kind-hearted man.

December Update

I have not updated this blog in a while, but we've been so super-busy lately. Our trip to NYC last weekend was so much fun. It was great to visit, and see the tree in Rockafella Center. We also went to FAO Schwartz & Dylan's (the best candy store ever!!!). Also, we dined a few times at the Dallas BBQ--$10 Margaritas in NYC that were "Texas Sized"=totally great deal! We took Amtrack train there--my very 1st trip on Amtrack and I absolutely loved it. The scenery was just so beautiful.

Work has improved recently. I am training a really nice new grad nurse which is really fun & rewarding. Tom has been putting in some extra hours at his bosses houses doing some side jobs there. He seems to be liking his job lately, too. Married life is great--especially with the holidays coming.

I am done most of my Christmas Shopping. We have really downsized this year and are trying to fine "the real meaning of Christmas." Our little tree is set up on the porch and we light it up at night for the neighbors to enjoy. I am working Christmas Day which is a little disappointing, but I'm looking forward to the Christmas Eve party at my parents house. It seems hard to believe that 2009 is coming to an end so soon. We are ready for 2010 and can't wait to see what that will bring.

God's Reminder of Love

This morning, Vegas (the cat) was running around the house with her "adopted baby" aka this little 6" teddy bear that Tommy gave me on our 1st date. It really took me back to the day he gave it to me. We had gone on our very first date on February 13th 2004 and were on the car ride on the way home. He went in his glove box and pulled out the little brown bear holding a heart that said "love" and asked me to be his Valentine. I don't know if we even knew what love was at that time but it just makes me smile to think how 5 1/2 years later we are still and love and married. I still remember that little bear smelled like is cologne for weeks--what a sweet, comforting smell it was. I think Vegas loves that bear because it is full of love--so I'll share it with her. It's funny sometimes how God reminds us of our roots and relationship foundations with such a simple gesture. So, thank you God, for my husband. I couldn't have been blessed with a more wonderful man.

New York, New York

It's official...our trip to New York City is booked from Dec 4-6. I am absolutely ecstatic because it will only be my 2nd time going! We are going with Tom's parents & going to visit Tom's brother, David--which is sure to be filled with fun adventures. Wooo hoo!!!

Still working on "thank you" cards from the wedding. I have completed 47 but still have about 31 left. They are taking a while to write, but I am really personalizing them all--I think everyone deserves a nice hand-written and personalized "thanks" for all the wonderful love and support they have shown us. My goal is to have them out before Christmas, which I think is more than reasonable.

Happy Halloween!

I worked on this lovely Halloween day and dressed up like a witch--a good witch of course. Then picked up some dinner at BK & passed out candy :O). My godchild, Addison and lil cousin Xavier stopped by in their costumes to see us, which was absolutely priceless. Addie was a giraffe, and Xavier was a Gorilla. I could just eat them to pieces they were so precious.

We had a good turnout of at least 50 trick-or-treaters...maybe even more! I am thankful to get the Halloween candy out of the house, so that I will stop eating it. Vegas (our cat) had fun sitting on the porch and looking at all the trick-or-treaters.

It was a fun 1st Halloween for us!

October is Almost Gone

It's hard to believe that October is almost finished. This week both of our cars were inspected & the old plates were dropped off at the RMV. It's official--Tom is a Masshole! We also registered to vote in our town, which was great.

Married life is still great. Last night we watched this free "On Demand" movie "Midnight Meat Train," which totally spooked me. It was about this butcher guy who hacked up people on the midnight train--eeeeeee, I should so not watch scary movies. Tom wasn't scared but was amused that I was--what a meanie---hehe just kidding!

Most of the trees have lost their leaves are the bright colors have turned dull--which means winter is coming. And "fall back" comes this weekend I believe (which is good considering I have to work this weekend).

Tomorrow, I am working on Halloween from 7-3. I'm contemplating throwing together a lil costume because the residents at work would really like it. I have this fantastic black wig--I think I might just have to wear it with my orange scrubs :O). Tom & I have decided to pass out Halloween Candy, too! That is if there is any left...I have been chowing down on tootsie pops & smarties. I better cut it out!

Tonight is our weekly, "Date Night"--still unsure what we are going to do but I am still excited. I may even try to straighten my hair and look cute for my man. Just because we're married doesn't mean we should stop making an effort to look nice for one another time to time--which is why I love the concept of "date night." It gives me a reason to make an effort to make him have the "wow" face. God, I love my hubby.

This morning he was so sweet. It is my day off and I asked him to get me up early so I could drop my car off at the garage up the street for an oil change and inspection. He woke me up right before he left, gave me a lil kiss, and said "I took care of your car"--this meant I could sleep in a little. God bless him.

So that's our update up until this point :O).

Weekend Update

Tom & I both had a 3-day weekend because we had to get things straightened out at the insurance company & RMV for name changes, new registration, & new licensure. We started Friday morning eating brekkie and McDonald's with all the old people--but it was cheap & good :O). Then we went to AAA to get new insurance, which went very smoothly. We were in and out of the Registry in less than 40 minutes which was nothing short of a miracle from God. Friday night I made a slammin turkey chili and we just hung out.

Saturday, we laid in bed and read our books 'til about 10 AM. It was really nice to just relax for a bit. Then we called up the in-laws to see what they were up to and they took us for a fun adventure. We ate at this mexian restaurant in the ghetto near our church which was quite hysterical. Tom & his dad really liked it but his mother and I thought otherwise. We also took a trip to Ann & Hope and Cardi's just to browse around. Then we went to the North End of Providence which was GREAT! I got my pepper dews and fresh mozzarella & I even bought pumpkin gnocci for Halloween. Yummmmmm. In addition, we had to stop at two bakeries and I had the most delicious cream cheese brownie! Other than that we mostly hung around for the evening eating our delicacies from the North End.

This morning, we are going to church, I've gotta do some housework, Pats Game is on, then I am making apple dumplings and salad to take over to the in-laws for Sunday Family Dinner. :O)

Our 1st New Blog Entry

This is our new and improved blogging site & I couldn't be more excited. Our good friends Adam & Amber inspired us to create a blog of our own. It is a great way to give life's little updates for those interested parties.

This week has been rather uneventful but good. Both of us have been working many hours lately. Tomorrow we are taking an adventure to the car insurance company & Registry of Motor Vechicles so I'm sure I'll have something good to post about that. Tomorrow night is also Friday night...and you know what that means--DATE NIGHT! I am very much looking forward to it.

Hope you enjoyed this very boring 1st entry. I promise to make future entries much more interesting.
